Pic credit: AMC/Peter Iovino The midseason finale for Season 7 of AMCâs Fear the Walking Dead was certainly a nail-biter â and even more so for Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey). However, the news released after Episode 8 aired is potentially even more exciting still. Not only has the network renewed the zombie apocalypse series, but they also announced a very special return for one character. The news of the renewal was made during Sunday nightâs episode of Talking Dead, according to Deadline. This comes after speculation by many fans and critics alike felt like Season 7 could be the conclusion for the Walking Dead spinoff series, particularly since many (myself included) have complained that the first eight episodes of Season 8 were not the best the network has produced. However, it appears that AMC certainly has a plan for the show as it has confirmed the renewal not only via the most recent episode of Talking Dead but also via the showâs Twitter account. Added to this, there was another major announcement that was also confirmed via Fearâs official Twitter account. âMADISON IS BACK,â they declared in all-caps. Sign up for our TV newsletter! Pic credit: @FearTWD/Twitter Madison Clark to return in Season 7 Many fans have long hoped that AMC would bring back Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) â and there have been plenty of teases over the years as well. As the mother of Alicia, her death was somewhat ambiguous in Episode 6 (titled âNo Oneâs Goneâ) of the fourth season of Fear the Walking Dead. At the time, Madison was seen leading a horde of walkers into the Dell Stadium and locking herself inside with them. The assumption by the characters in the TV series was that she perished. However, for viewers, there was always the hope that the character would return as her death was never shown onscreen. Pic credit: AMC/Peter Iovino Now, her fate has been officially confirmed, and Madison will be returning in the second half of Season 7. AMC released the following statement on Madisonâs return. âIf there were a Mt. Deadmore, Kim Dickensâ face would be on it. Madison Clark is a foundational character to TWDU â heroic, complex, an everyperson who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence,â said Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe. âKim Dickensâ raw talent, strength, and brilliance will electrify TWDU once more and we couldnât be luckier to have her back.â Of course, there is no news of how Madison will return and, with what Alicia revealed in Episode 8, fans are left wondering if the mother and daughter will even be reunited. Season 7 of Fear the Walking Dead will return to AMC on Sunday, April 17, 2022.

AMC announces that Fear the Walking Dead has been renewed for season 8, and that Kim Dickens' Madison Clark will return as a series regular. Fear the Walking Dead has officially been renewed for season 8, with Kim Dickens set to return to the Walking Dead universe. The long-running zombie apocalypse drama has amassed a loyal following since its creation as the first spinoff series of The Walking Dead in 2015. The series has just aired its season 7 midseason finale, with the second half set to resume in April. The Walking Dead franchise, spawned from the comic book series of the same name, follows an ensemble cast of survivors as they come to terms with the collapse of modern civilization amid a zombie apocalypse and the nascent human conflict that has emerged alongside it. Gaining prominence in 2011 with the original television series The Walking Dead, the franchise has since generated countless offshoots, from board games to amusement park rides, but the most successful of these has been Fear the Walking Dead. Initially, a prequel to the parent series, the AMC spinoff has since grown into a full-fledged series in its own right, running concurrently with the original show and even featuring crossover characters in its seven-season run. Via Variety, the announcement of season 8 was made on Talking Dead, the TV aftershow dedicated to covering the franchise, following the finale of another spinoff series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. It appears that Dickens will return to the series as Madison Clark, the character that she played in the series from season 1-4. Clark had seemingly sacrificed her life in an explosion in season 4, but will return in the second half of season 7, coming to AMC Plus on April 10 and AMC on April 17, 2022, and will continue into season 8 as a series regular. The season 7 midseason finale ended with an unsteady Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey) declaring war on Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). The pair prepare for a running battle amid nuclear chaos to conclude season 7, with an ailing Alicia holed up on the submarine and Strand readying in the tower. However, it seems likely that they both could meet their ends before season 8 hits the screen. Reviews were mixed on the midseason finale, and there have been some rumblings that Fear the Walking Dead has run out of steam in recent years. But the return of a fan favorite from the early days of the series in Dickens may be an attempt to reconnect fans with the show. Madison Clark is a reminder of the show's origins and the reason many fell in love with the series when it began, but it remains to be seen if this will be enough to reinvigorate the series, or if Fear The Walking Dead will slowly run its course. Pic credit: AMC/Lauren âLoâ Smith Season 7 of AMCâs Fear the Walking Dead concluded last Sunday night and saw the return of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), who had long been considered dead by her family and friends. Along with this, the episode shook things up a little by taking Morgan Jones (Lennie James) away from the radioactive landscape that has dominated the season and set him down in new territory â and new problems. PADRE was also finally revealed as a group that is intent on stealing children from their parents in order to raise them without any emotional bonds. As to how this works out remains to be seen, but the network has promised that everything is set to change when Fear the Walking Dead returns for Season 8. Fear the Walking Dead will be âreinventedâ According to the series showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss, Season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead is set to be âreinvented.â As mentioned above, things are already changing dramatically in the TV show. Not only is Madison returning, but her daughter, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), has left the franchise, and the two look unlikely to meet up in the near future because of this. Sign up for our TV newsletter! They then went on to explain that what fans saw at the end of Season 7 will continue on in how the series will change. âWe end the season with Morgan and Madison going out to a boat,â Andrew Chambliss said. âSo I think itâs safe to say that season 8 will have a very different environment from what we have seen before. And it will, in many ways, be centered around the water.â This is not the first makeover for Fear the Walking Dead Fear the Walking Dead has evolved dramatically over the years. Opening in Los Angeles, the characters then moved to Mexico in Season 3, according to Fansided. Most recently, filming has occurred in Texas and its surrounding areas but is set to move again to Savannah, Georgia, for Season 8. Along the way, the characters have had to deal with a vast array of problems and recently underwent its most explosive change when nuclear warheads were released in Season 6 and the characters had to negotiate the resulting wasteland in Season 7. Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 promo featuring Colman Domingo as Victor Strand and Lennie James as Morgan Jones. Pic credit: AMC With Fear the Walking Dead now looking to focus on a more watery aspect, itâs not even the first time the show has done that either. Early storylines involved Victor Strandâs (Colman Domingo) boat, the Abigail, as the survivors traversed open waters as they escaped from the undead. So now, with Season 8 about to be filmed, it will be interesting to see just what the showrunners mean when they say things are changing once again. As yet, no release date has been announced for Season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead.
